“Fight for the Right” Debate Added to 2008 Conservative Leadership Conference on the question, "Should conservatives and libertarians vote for the presidential candidate most ideologically similar to themselves…or for the candidate polling says is most likely to defeat Barack Obama?" x-posted

Now the question is, will they actually discover voting reform, or just yell at each other about who's more pure?

I know which way my money would be laid...

They're asking the wrong question, aren't they? It should be "How can conservatives vote for a minor party candidate that they agree with and still beat the Democrats?" Some progressives came to the conclusion that vote-swapping in safe Democrat territory was the way to try to get funding for Nader while not re-electing Bush. Complex trades like this really show the need for electoral reform in the United States.

I'm in complete agreement. I don't understand why so many intelligent people keep getting caught up in stuff like this, without seeing the underlying, fundamental problem!
